October was a big month for gear on the SCG YouTube channel. We kicked off our Best of 2026 picks with roasts, manual brewers, grinders, and coffee bar accessories, then wrapped things up with a full review of the redesigned Fellow Opus 2.

BEST Coffee Roasts of 2026 (Including Decaf!)

Four roasts make our list for the year, and we paired each one with the brew method that brings out its best. The biggest surprise? A bag labeled "espresso blend" that absolutely shines in a French press. Turns out the label on the bag is more of a suggestion than a rule. Meet the lineup: Camber Coffee Big Joy, Wonderstate Off Grid, Kuma Coffee Ethiopia Guji, and for the decaf crowd, Olympia Decaf Asterisk, which we brewed on the LELIT Mara X. That decaf is made with a sugar cane process, which is a fun fact to pull out at your next coffee chat.

Best Manual Coffee & Espresso Makers of 2026

"Manual coffee maker" isn't exactly a tidy category, so we gave it a straight answer. Stovetop brewers, manual espresso makers, and immersion/pour-over hybrids all get a seat at the table. The picks include a stainless Bialetti Venus moka pot that works on induction, the no-electricity Flair 49 Pro, the Hario Switch, and the OXO Rapid Brewer. If counter space is tight, or you just like brewing by hand, start here.

The BEST Coffee Grinders of 2026

Our best brew grinders of the year, from a budget-friendly stepless pick all the way up to our personal favorite, the Fellow Ode Gen 2. We also threw in a sound test, so you'll know exactly how loud each one will be in your kitchen before it lands on your counter. The rest of the lineup includes a Eureka, the Baratza Encore ESP, and the Technivorm Moccamaster KM5. One heads up: this video is all about brew grinders, so espresso grinders get their own video.

BEST Home Coffee Bar Accessories of 2026

It's the small stuff that makes a home coffee bar actually work. Fellow Opus 2 Espresso Grinder Full Review (and Comparison to the Ode 2!)

This month's standout. Fellow redesigned its most popular grinder, and this is our hands-on verdict on the Fellow Opus Gen 2. We cover the new grind knob, near-perfect retention, and the one limit worth knowing about before you buy: the duty cycle. We also settle the "which Fellow is which" question, since the names get mixed up a lot. The short version: the Opus is the versatile one, and the Ode Gen 2 is the one for light-roast pour-over. The Fellow Series 1 and Fellow Aiden come up along the way, too.

If you skipped the original Opus because of its grind adjustment, this is the one to watch.
